Living in London

With a population of approximately 500,000, London is one of the top 10 fastest-growing cities in Ontario. Located in Southwestern Ontario, this mid-size city is known for its vibrant university-town atmosphere, culture, and excellent education and healthcare facilities. It's also a great city if you desire a big-city feel without the drawbacks of living in a large city in Canada. It offers affordable housing, an extensive education and healthcare industry, and an emerging technology sector. With top-quality education, London is an ideal city for young families moving to Canada.

Job Market

The city is home to more than 20,000 businesses across sectors that include advanced manufacturing, professional services, life sciences, and digital creative sectors. During the past five years, London has shown strong labour growth in construction, retail trade, accommodation and food services, agriculture, and other services. Speak to a Settlement Counsellor from LUSO about how they can help you with employment needs.

Housing Market

London offers newcomers a diverse, welcoming, and safe place to call home. While housing prices have risen in London, it is still one of the more affordable cities to live in Canada. With lower housing costs, you're able to afford more. The city also offers a commute time of 15 minutes to anywhere in the city, which only adds to your quality of life. You can also visit the Rentals for Newcomers booth to learn more about London's rental market.

Newcomer Support

London benefits from ethnocultural and religious diversity as it welcomes more newcomers. Embracing and supporting newcomers is key to the successful integration of newcomers. London has several programs and services to help newcomers achieve economic and social inclusion. To learn more about newcomer support and free services, connect with LUSO Community Services.
